ISLAMABAD: The MG HS, the popular stylish crossover has become more expensive along with several other cars in Pakistan as the government has approved a new withholding tax on all vehicles.
As per the details, locally assembled cars saw a new withholding tax hike as the government takes drastic measures to boost revenue. With the latest amendments, registration charges will now be calculated based on the vehicle’s invoice price and not engine capacity.
MG Pakistan has announced an increase in MG HS prices after the implementation of this tax.
The Pakistani government also removed the 50 percent discount on HEV cars. Now, HEV owners will have to pay full 100% customs duty on their HEV vehicles, and no exemption will be given.
The Chinese auto giant explained the new withholding tax on the car’s price, with the base model of the MG HS priced at Rs 8.26 million.
