LAHORE: In Lahore and other cities, the prices of chicken meat and eggs continue to increase ahead of Christmas and New Year.
The city administration has increased the price of chicken meat by Rs 7 per kg, taking the new price to Rs 482 per kg from Rs 475 yesterday.
The price of live broiler chicken has also increased by Rs 5, with the wholesale price now at Rs 319 per kg and the retail price at Rs 333 per kg.
Moreover, after a similar increase yesterday, the price of eggs in the official rate list has increased by Rs 1. The price per dozen eggs has now reached Rs 327.
In Multan, the wholesale price of live broiler chicken is Rs 309 per kg while the retail price is Rs 323 per kg.
The price of chicken meat per kg remains at Rs 465 and the price of eggs per dozen at Rs 324.
Meanwhile, the government has claimed that the inflation rate in the country has fallen to its lowest level in the last six and a half years.
In the first five months of the current fiscal year, average inflation fell from 28.62 percent to 7.88 percent, reaching a low of 4.9 percent last month.
On an annual basis, the inflation rate in urban areas has fallen to 5.2 percent.
