LAHORE: The price of chicken in Punjab has dropped significantly in the market by Rs. 22 per kilogram reaching Rs 416 on Saturday with Rs 265 per kg for broiler chicken (alive).
Chicken meat is one of the most consumed meats in Pakistan. The demand for poultry remains high throughout the year, as it is widely used in all kinds of dishes.
As per official rates, the price of chicken meat in the local market is now Rs 416 per kg, significantly lower than last week’s Rs 438 per kg.
The price of the live broiler (wholesale) is now fixed at Rs 276 per kg, compared to Rs 291 last week. Similarly, the price of a live broiler (retail) price is Rs 287 with a significant reduction from last week’s 302.
The price of a dozen eggs has been marginally decreased to Rs. 237. At the same time, a full crate of 350 eggs is priced at Rs 6990 with a significant decrease.
Lower poultry prices can ease financial pressure on consumers and offer more economical choices. However, doubts remain about whether retailers will go ahead with the new rates.
