Federal cabinet approves Budget 2025-26

ISLAMABAD: In a recent development, the federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the budgetary proposals for the fiscal year 2025-26. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired the cabinet meeting that discussed the budget allocations for the current fiscal year.

Addressing the meeting, the premier said that the economy was improving, with all economic indicators showing positive signs.

He said that the government is going to present the best budget, banking on the available resources. The premier said the government was raising the salaries and pensions of serving and retired government employees beyond the available fiscal space.

The prime minister asked the ministers and cabinet members to be present in the National Assembly while presenting the budget.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb will present a Rs 17.6 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2025-26 on Tuesday, with total revenue projected at Rs19.4 trillion and the tax collection target fixed at Rs14.13 trillion.
