ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Rashid Mahmood Langrial from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), here on Wednesday.
As per the notification issued by the Establishment Division, the officer of BPS-21 has been transferred and posted as Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973 with immediate effect.
Rashid Langrial was earlier serving as Secretary, Power Division. The Federal Cabinet gave final approval to the appointment of the new Chairman of FBR.
This officer has served in various government positions such as: Chief Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan, Commissioner Lahore Division, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Chief Executive Officer of National Power Parks Management Company (NPPMCL), Chairperson Lahore Ring Road Authority and Secretary Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The development comes after former FBR Chairman Malik Amjad Zubair Towana resigned from his post, requesting his removal from the PM Secretariat.
