Flour prices increase again

GURANWALA: Flour prices seem to be climbing sharply in Gujranwala, and residents say they are getting worried because inflation is still ongoing.

In the open market, sellers are now quoting around Rs. 1,150 to Rs. 1,200 for a 10-kilogram bag of flour. For a bigger option, the 15-kilogram bag goes roughly Rs. 1,650 to Rs. 1,680, depending on the shop and the day.

This price hike is starting to squeeze household budgets in a real way. People voiced frustration about the steady climb in the costs of everyday necessities, and honestly, it feels like everything is getting heavier on a month-to-month basis.

They urge the authorities to move quickly, stabilize rates, and keep the situation from getting worse. Traders, on their side, connect the rise to higher wheat costs.

They also mention supply chain pressure as a main reason. According to them, when wholesale prices wobble, retail rates tend to jump too. In other words, the market ends up having almost no safe space for calm or stability. Consumers want strict price controls.

They also ask for continuous surveillance by local teams, not just occasional checks. They stressed that flour is still a basic necessity, and when the cost keeps rising, low-income and middle-income households have to trim their daily spending—sometimes in small pieces, sometimes in big ways.
