KARACHI: A pipeline leak at the National Refinery in Karachi‘s Defense area caused a major oil spill, spilling oil into nearby streets and alleys.

As soon as the incident was reported, the Darakhshan police immediately reached the spot and cordoned off the area and closed all the roads. Local authorities have also been notified, and additional police personnel have been deployed to secure the surrounding area.

SHO Derakhshan Irfan Asif has confirmed that the leakage near Khayaban-e-Seher Street 25 originated from the central point of the pipeline of the National Oil Refinery. Since then, the supply of oil through the pipeline has been stopped.

A technical team from the National Oil Refinery is expected to visit the site in the morning for a detailed inspection. As a precautionary measure, fire tenders and rescue personnel have also been deployed at the site to ensure safety.
