ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has resolved to continue the workers’ remittances incentive scheme for overseas Pakistanis’ remittances to Pakistan.
He ordered the Ministry of Finance to release funds for the Workers’ Remittances Incentive Scheme on a priority basis at once.
He stated, “Overseas Pakistanis are our strength and a valuable asset of Pakistan.”
“The remittances earned hard by overseas Pakistanis contribute significantly to the progress of Pakistan, which the whole country, including myself, cherishes,” he added.
During fiscal year 2025, he stated that overseas Pakistanis were at the forefront in realizing the goal of current account surplus for the first time in 14 years through the contribution of an all-time high of $38.3 billion in remittances.
These remittances not only financed the growing import bill but also augmented foreign exchange reserves, he added.
