Punjab govt employees’ salaries to increase in upcoming budget: Details inside

LAHORE: Punjab’s Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman has announced govt’s decision to increase salaries of government employees in the upcoming budget for fiscal year 2024-25 in June amid multiple economic challenges.

While addressing the Labour Convention, Punjab’s Finance Minister said, “Along with the increase in salaries of govt employees, the government plans to bring big packages for farmers, laborers, and students.” MPA Ghazali Butt, Chaudhry Bilal, Labour Union Chairman Mehboob Bhatti, and President Munir Tikka Khan were also present at the convention.

Every year, both federal and provincial governments announce increments in salaries of their employees in their budget.

Furthermore, the Minister said that a package of Rs4 billion will be given to the farmers, while the legitimate demands of the labor union will be fulfilled, and jobs will be restored.

Provincial Minister Mujtaba commended the PML-N leadership for improving the economic indicators of Punjab in the last two and a half months. “The reports of the World Bank and the International Development Bank confirmed that the rate of inflation in the Federation and Punjab decreased by 4 to 5 percent;” he added.

Expected increase in salaries, pensions of Punjab govt employees

The Punjab governments are anticipated to declare a ten percent increase in employees’ salaries in the upcoming budget year 2024–2025. The governments will, however, make the final decision after considering the Ministry of Finance’s proposals.

If the proposal is approved, the increase will take effect in July 2024.
