Transport fares rise after petroleum prices hike

LAHORE: Following the recent increase in the prices of petroleum products, transporters have also increased the fares of several routes.

The fares of routes from Lahore to Faisalabad, Bhalwal, Chakwal and Sialkot have been increased by Rs 50.

Meanwhile, the fares of routes to Mirpur, Karachi, Islamabad and Kotli have seen an increase of Rs 200 to 300.

Passengers going to Sialkot, Chakwal, Sahiwal, Bhalwal, Jhawarian are now being charged Rs 50 to 100 more than before.

In particular, the fare from Lahore to Sialkot has increased from Rs 700 to Rs 750, while the fare from Lahore to Kotli has increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,300.

The government on Tuesday increased the prices of petroleum products by Rs 10.39 per liter.

The decision is expected to further burden consumers who are already suffering from rising inflation. According to the official notification, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs 8.36, taking it to Rs 272.98 per liter, while the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs 10.39, which is now Rs 266.79 per liter.
