KARACHI: In a recent development, Ameer Qadri, the Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, has been removed from his position due to student complaints about the intermediate Part-I results.
The chairmanship duties have been transferred to Sharaf Ali Shah, the Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, who will assume interim charge. Qadri has also been asked to clarify his “unauthorized trip abroad”, which has raised some eyebrows.
Earlier, Qadri had expressed his readiness to address students’ concerns regarding the results of the 2024 Intermediate Annual Examinations, stating that the results were in accordance with merit and the board took full responsibility for them.
Despite his assurances, the controversy surrounding the results continued to simmer, with students protesting outside the Inter Board office and demanding a review of the results.
The students alleged that those who scored high marks in their matric exams were given low marks in the first year and failed in several subjects. The matter was even discussed in the Sindh Assembly, where a heated debate broke out among the members.
Qadri had tried to reassure students by explaining that a thorough review of the answer sheets and assessments had been conducted, and everything was in line with merit and legal procedures.
He had also encouraged students to submit their scrutiny forms to ensure their concerns were addressed, and even offered to show them their answer sheets with the option of involving a professor of their choice along with their parents.
