ISLAMABAD: The re-conduct of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is expected to be held in Islamabad and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on November 24, 2024 (Sunday).
Sources said that more than 17,000 students have re-registered for the MDCAT which will be conducted by the Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) on the orders of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Earlier in September, 53,105 candidates registered for the entrance test showing a significant decrease.
In October, IHC Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir accepted the student’s petition against the MDCAT held in September and ordered the re-conduct of it within one month.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir accepted the petition challenging the exam, declaring the previous MDCAT null and void, and instructed the concerned university to conduct a new entrance test.
Several students filed the plea in Islamabad High Court arguing that the MDCAT paper contained questions that were out of the syllabus. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), in its report, also confirmed that several questions were outside the curriculum.
