KP issues new academic calendar with semester system: Details inside

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Department has issued a new academic calendar introducing a semester system across the province after the approval of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

According to the notification, this policy has been made in view of the diverse climatic conditions of the province to ensure effective educational delivery and the well-being of students. The academic year has been divided into two semesters — spring and autumn — with separate schedules for schools in summer and winter zones.

Summer Zone: In schools in the summer zone, the academic year will run from September to August. The first semester will run from September to December and the second semester from January to May. The summer vacations will be from June to August.

Winter Zone: In schools in the winter zone, the academic year will start in March and end in December. The first semester will run from March to June while the second semester will run from August to December.

The winter vacations will be from December to February.
