LAHORE: The Punjab School Education Department (SED) has launched a new monitoring system to ensure teacher attendance in public schools, aiming to enhance the overall quality of education across the province.

This initiative focuses on strict compliance with working hours for principals and teachers, with surprise inspections by department officers to guarantee adherence.

The SED has instructed all school staff to stay on campus until 2:30 pm, with extended hours and alternate Saturdays dedicated to lesson planning, professional development, and academic activities.

By reinforcing school timing regulations, the SED seeks to improve overall operations and ensure seamless educational activities.

The department has communicated these instructions to all District Education Authorities (DEAs) in Punjab, stressing the importance of strict adherence to the schedule.

In addition, this move is part of a broader initiative to boost educational standards and maintain school discipline, promoting a culture of accountability and punctuality among teachers.

In a related development, the Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has completed the first round of interviews for key positions, including Directorate of Public Instruction (colleges), Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and District Education Authority (DEA) roles.

Approximately 120 candidates underwent assessments evaluating their administrative, communication, IT, leadership, and other skills, marking a significant step in the department’s efforts to enhance educational leadership across the province.
