President Alvi is still performing his duties in the caretaker capacity even after his term has ended. Nonetheless, sources close to the Election agency claim that the agency has set the calendar for the next polls and that plans are well underway for the presidential contest. According to additional sources, the electoral watchdog not only created the schedule but also got clearance for it.

It is important to note that the President may continue to serve in that capacity for a month after a general election, in accordance with constitutional regulations.
