ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan has said that the only purpose of the proposed constitutional amendment is to keep him in jail, here on Monday.

As per the details, in an informal conversation with reporters at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, Imran Khan said that the Constitutional Court is being set up because the authorities are afraid of the Supreme Court. He warned that the new amendment would destroy the country’s future.

“The rulers have tried everything possible to weaken the judiciary. All this is being done to cover up election rigging. They are afraid that if the election results are scrutinised, everything will be exposed,” he said.

Imran Khan criticized the government and said that threatening judges, kidnapping people and ignoring the rule of law will only harm the country. Everything is happening against the national interest. Trying to eliminate a political party will only lead to more political instability.

He accused the ruling elite of prioritizing their personal wealth over the good of the country.

The money of the promoters of this amendment is hidden abroad. Those in power do not want an independent judiciary. The interests of the elite are at odds with the interests of the country. 4 thousand Pakistani companies were registered in Dubai in the last 6 months. It doesn’t matter to them because their money and properties are abroad. Dubai Leaks revealed that Mohsin Naqvi’s wife has properties worth $500 million abroad. Now we are running the country on debt due to which inflation is out of control.

He urged the people to stand up for their rights and protect the judiciary. I stand with judges, judiciary and journalists. Qazi Faiz wants to weaken the judiciary by bringing back Isa. We will not be silent on this. We will protest vigorously, and a peaceful demonstration will be held in Lahore on 21st.
