Pakistan Army reaffirms commitment to defeating terrorism

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military leadership reiterated its commitment to maintain hard-won gains against terrorism, stressing that with the unwavering support of the people, they will not allow those gains to be reversed, here on Tuesday.

This statement was made during the Corps Commanders Conference at General Headquarters Rawalpindi presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir.

“The participants chanted Fateha and paid great tribute to the undying sacrifices made by the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and civilians who laid down their lives for the peace and stability of Pakistan in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa”, a press release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

“The forum was briefed on the current geo-strategic environment, national security challenges, and strategic and operational responses to emerging threats.

“By examining hostile forces, malicious actors, subversive proxies, and facilitators of Pakistan’s external and internal opposition, particularly those active in Balochistan and KPK, the Forum sought to neutralize these threats. The forum reiterated that the Pakistan Army, with the unwavering support of the people, will not allow hard-won gains against terrorism to be reversed,” by the Army’s media wing. The forum stressed that the Army is a disciplined institution, which upholds the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and loyalty to the state and institution. The institution’s well-established and rigorous accountability system ensures that these values ​​are upheld with unwavering commitment, with no room for exceptions or favouritism. This strict process on accountability reinforces the integrity of the military, ensuring that no individual is above the law or exempt from scrutiny.

Acknowledging the urgency and importance of a strong and effective legal system, the COAS stressed that the Pakistan Army should use the government, administrative apparatus and law enforcement to take swift and legal action against terrorists, anarchists and criminal mafias. It will continue to provide comprehensive support to the institutions.

The forum also expressed satisfaction over the ongoing efforts against the illegal spectrum working in collusion with terrorist networks. The critical need to protect national cyberspace through stringent cyber security measures was also emphasized.

In an expression of solidarity with the people of India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, who are suffering grave human rights violations, the forum paid tribute to the martyrs of the freedom movement. Israel’s continued violence and genocide against Palestinians was also strongly condemned.

The forum expressed confidence in the operational readiness and preparedness of the Pakistan Army and expressed commitment to maintain standards in pursuit of professionalism.
