ISLAMABAD: Islamabad recorded 25 new dengue cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of patients in the capital to 458, health officials confirmed on Sunday.
According to the District Health Officer (DHO), 21 of the new infected people have been admitted to hospitals, while the remaining four are being treated at home in isolation.
Interestingly, the number of new cases reported was similar to the previous day, reflecting the continuous increase in infections across the city.
The DHO report said that both rural and urban areas of Islamabad are equally affected, with 13 cases reported from each zone. Bhara Kahu topped with six new patients, followed by Rawat and Alipur with three patients each.
In urban areas, two cases were confirmed in each of the G-5, G-6, F-6, G-7, and F-10 sectors. One case was also reported from G-11, E-11, H-9, F-13, G-9, and Tarlai-II.
To combat the outbreak, health teams have intensified surveillance and fumigation campaigns. In the last 24 hours, 343 locations were inspected, out of which 14 were marked as high-risk dengue “hotspots”. Fogging operations were carried out in 133 areas to prevent mosquito breeding.
Authorities also reported strict action against commercial establishments that neglected to adopt safety measures.
Health department officials assured that the anti-dengue campaign would continue with full force, urging citizens to cooperate in efforts to maintain cleanliness, eliminate standing water and seek timely medical attention in case of symptoms.
