PESHAWAR: Pakistan has reported two more mpox cases from Peshawar, raising the total number of affected people in the province to 13.
According to the health department, both patients are residents of Peshawar. One is 20 a 20-year-old local resident, while the other patient is a 42-year-old who returned from Saudi Arabia last year.
The Advisor to the Health Minister, Ehtisham Ali, stated that both patients were tested for Monkeypox at the Khyber Teaching Hospital for treatment and were isolated at home.
The patients visited the hospital due to doubt, and their test for monkeypox came back positive. However, their other family members, fortunately, have shown no signs of the virus.
This development comes as Pakistan continues to grapple with the spread of mpox, which has been declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the WHO, with over 99,518 confirmed cases and 208 deaths reported worldwide.
