‘Communication blackout’ in Gaza, UN also forced to stop aid activities

The spokesperson of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Juliet Touma, said that due to the communication blackout, the delivery of food items and other aid to Gaza had to be stopped from Friday. Is.

 

Speaking to Foreign News Agency, Juliette Touma said that the extension of the communication blackout means an extension of the suspension of humanitarian aid activities in Gaza.

According to a foreign news agency, the United Nations had expressed the fear of widespread hunger and poverty in Gaza, but the international organization trying to deal with this alarming situation had to stop its other activities including the delivery of food items.

For the past several weeks, the Israeli forces have completely blocked the supply of electricity, internet and fuel in Gaza, while humanitarian aid for the affected Palestinian citizens has also been allowed to enter with limited access, which is the World Food Program. And it has been declared inadequate by other international organizations including the United Nations.

After continuous demands from the United Nations for fuel supplies to continue its aid activities,

Israel finally forced to allow two fuel trucks to enter Gaza on a daily basis, however, the United Nations also limited the amount of fuel supplies to continue aid activities.

It has been declared as less than half of the daily requirements saying that it is insufficient to keep.

It should be noted that due to the complete communication blackout in Gaza, more than 2.3 million citizens of Gaza, including international organizations engaged in relief activities, have been trapped and their communication with the rest of the world has been completely cut off.

On the other hand, on the American recommendation, Israel has agreed to provide a very small amount of fuel to the United Nations in Gaza, 60,000 liters (15,850 gallons) per day.

According to the US Department of State, Israel has agreed to supply another 10,000 liters of fuel for the communication network, but the United Nations has declared the amount of fuel insufficient.

According to Juliette Touma, UNRWA and other humanitarian organizations need at least 120,000 liters (31,700 gallons) of fuel on a daily basis to continue their relief activities.

He said that at the moment humanitarian aid is being delivered to Gaza from Egypt’s Rafah Crossing to the extent of only 10% of the total needs there, which threatens to create a crisis of hunger and poverty in Gaza

While the Gaza Strip Due to non-supply of water, people are forced to drink dirty water, due to which there is also a fear of outbreak of epidemic diseases.
