Omar Ayub Khan is running from NA-18, Haripur, and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan is running from NA-10, Buner-I.

The candidates listed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the February 8 elections have been made public.

In response to accusations of unfair competition, the previous ruling party has chosen to field candidates for each of Pakistan’s 266 national assembly seats. But a number of constituencies had been designated as “pending,” mostly as a result of disagreements over candidate nominations.

At least 34 NA constituencies—mostly those in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Kasur, Khanewal, Sahiwal, and Pakpattan—still have unnamed candidates.

Owing to his conviction in the Toshakhana case, former prime minister Imran Khan, who is presently detained at Adiala Jail, is not eligible to run in elections. His nomination papers have been rejected by the returning officers.

It’s interesting to note that the PTI has put up candidates against Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, a close ally until recently, and his nephew, Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, after the two sides allegedly fell out over the chaos on May 9.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has no pending nominations, while scores of constituencies in the other three provinces are still up for grabs for the party’s final nominations.
