Firdous Ashiq Awan apologizes for slapping police officer on Feb 8

Central Secretary Information Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Firdous Ashiq Awan apologized for slapping a police officer at a polling place in Sialkot on February 8 during the general election.

The former deferral minister appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in a police slap case today. Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan submitted a written reply to the ECP.

She also sought a written apology from ECP and claimed that while she was being harassed, the police officers were reluctant to defend her.

She said that votes were being illegally cast amid the violation of the law at the polling place and that no one was being held accountable for this behavior.

During the hearing, ECP Sindh member Nasir Durrani stated that the ECP did not expect her slapping a police officer. IPP leader then expressed her apology for what had happened on Feb 8. After the conclusion of the hearing, the ECP later reserved the verdict.

Firdous Ashiq Awan was involved in a case following the release of a video on social media, allegedly showing her slapping a police officer who was on duty at Government High School Gana Kalan in Sialkot NA 70 on Thursday during the polls.
