Initial probe suggests India behind killing of Amir Sarfraz Tamba: Mohsin Naqvi

LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that India is allegedly behind the murder of Amir Sarfraz Tamba, who was accused of killing Indian terrorist Sarabjit Singh in jail in 2013.

During the press conference on Monday, Mohsin Naqvi added that the evidence of Aamir Tamba’s murder was traced back to India as the neighboring country was involved in four other murders as well before Tamba’s killing.

Furthermore, Interior Minster while addressing the presser at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) office in Lahore said, “Police are investigating the attack on Amir Tamba by an unidentified assailant and so far, they suspect India is behind it.”

“India was involved in four other murder incidents on a similar pattern as well. However, it will not be suitable to say anything until the investigation is complete,” he quoted.

Earlier on Sunday, Amir Sarfraz alias Tamba, accused of attacking Indian terrorist Sarabjit Singh in jail was gunned down in Lahore. The FIR report was registered at the Islampura Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s brother Junaid Sarfraz under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Amir Sarfraz was seriously injured by unidentified motorcyclists in the Islampura area of Lahore. After the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

According to the police, in 2013, two inmates of Kot Lakhpat Jail, Amir Tamba, and Mudassar, were accused of attacking Indian spy Sarabjit Singh who later died of his injuries in the hospital.

It should be remembered that in December 2018, Additional District and Sessions Judge Moin Khokhar of Session Court Lahore had acquitted both accused involved in the murder case of Indian spy prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat.
