Islamabad court acquits Imran Khan in another case

ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court of Islamabad acquitted former Prime Minister Imran Khan in another case due to lack of evidence on Tuesday.

According to the details, the arrest warrant of Imran Khan was issued in the case registered in Margalla police station, Islamabad.

A case of organizing an illegal rally, government interference, and disturbance of the peace was registered against PTI founder Imran Khan, Asad Umar, and other PTI leaders on May 6, 2023. An FIR was registered under the Anti-Terrorism Act at Margalla police station.

The FIR was registered in the complaint of duty magistrate Ali Javed. According to the FIR, the PTI rally at Jinnah Avenue Chowk was initiated by Imran Khan and promoted on social media, led by Asad Umar, Khurram Nawaz, and Ali Nawaz Awan.

Lawyers Masroof Khan and Amna Ali represented Imran Khan during the hearing today. As per details, Judicial Magistrate, Mureed Abbas after an argument with lawyers acquitted PTI founder, Asad Umar, Ali Nawaz Awan, and others in the case.

On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi’s 10-year imprisonment sentence in the Toshakhana case.

The two-member bench of IHC headed by IHC Justice Aamer Farooq suspended the sentence in light of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor’s statement.
