Non-bailable arrest warrants issued for PML-N MNA Khurram Nawaz

The District and Sessions Courts, Islamabad Saturday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for PML-N’s Khurram Shehzad Nawaz, a newly elected member of the National Assembly, in the “Azadi March” case.

During a court hearing presided over by Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi, Khurram Nawaz failed to appear despite a summons, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant against him.

Prominent politicians Ali Nawaz Awan and Asad Umar appeared in the court and surrendered.

Asad Umar and Ali Nawaz Awan’s pleas for the cancellation of their warrants were granted by the court after their voluntary surrender.

In the case, both also filed new pleadings for acquittal. The court sought to receive arguments on February 26.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) maintained the victory notifications of three Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates who secured seats in the National Assembly constituencies of NA-46, NA-47, and NA-48 in Islamabad on Friday.

The electoral body affirmed the victories of AnjumAqeel of the PML-N in NA-46, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in NA-47, and Raja Khurram Nawaz in NA-48.
