Foreign companies have stepped up to spearhead renewable energy projects aimed at harnessing wind and solar power in Karachi.

These initiatives aim to transform the energy landscape, providing affordable electricity from alternative sources.

According to a letter from K-Electric, private businesses will work with the company to start initiatives that will use alternative energy sources to provide citizens with electricity.

The anticipated investment for these developments, which will be integrated with K-Electric’s system, is $40 million.
In two years, the CEO of K-Electric promises to add 640 megawatts (MW) of solar and wind energy to the current system, marking a major increase in sustainable energy.

Karachi is poised to become a centre for renewable energy innovation, with 40 companies vying for a share of the alternative energy market.

Notably, according to KE’s Moonis Alvi, 12 businesses from Europe, China, and the Middle East have agreed to take part in the solar and wind power project.

Alvi stated that these alternative energy projects will be put in place in key areas including Hub, Othal, Bela, and Surjani Town.
