LAHORE: Former PTI leader Usman Dar reaffirmed his resignation from politics and stated that his brother Umar has been’recovered’.

Speaking to the media after appearing before the Lahore High Court, he stated that he had come seeking justice for his mother and brother Umar Dar, and that by the grace of Allah Almighty, the LHC had cleared my mother’s nomination papers, and my brother had been ‘recovered’.

He stated that, despite his decision to leave politics, he will vote for his mother.

It is worth noting that Usman Dar’s mother is running for the NA-71 seat from Sialkot.

Meanwhile The Punjab government informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday that Umar Dar, the brother of former PTI leader Usman Dar, was currently in the custody of Sialkot police.

The development came as the court heard Usman’s petition against the alleged illegal detention of his brother by law enforcement agencies.

On December 30, the PTI claimed that Umar had been abducted in Lahore. The LHC then directed police to recover him within 24 hours. Last week, the LHC rejected as unsatisfactory a Punjab police report denying Umar’s arrest or custody.

The next day, it directed Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar to submit a new report based on CCTV footage of the alleged abduction.

Rehana and Umar’s daughter attended today’s hearing, presided over by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.

Punjab Additional Advocate General Ghulam Sarwar Nihan represented the provincial government, while Umar’s counsel was Abuzar Salman Niazi.

During the hearing, Nihan informed the court that “Umar Dar is in police custody.”

“He was arrested on January 8 from Gujarat,” the counsel stated, adding that he was in Sialkot police custody at the Cantt police station.

The provincial counsel also stated that Umar had been mentioned in two first information reports.

According to the lawyer, Naizi was arrested by Punjab police and then turned over to Sialkot police for investigation.

On the occasion, Umar’s mother thanked Justice Najafi for making a “just decision”.

Following the hearing, Niazi stated that his client had been “located”.

In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “Finally, Punjab police admitted before LHC Justice Baqar Najfi that Umar Dar is in custody of Sialkot police in connection with a first information report in Cantt Police Station, Sialkot.”

“Now his remand will be contested and post-arrest bail will be filed,” the attorney went on to say.
