New York: Renowned actress Kate Winslet, famously known for her roles in Titanic and The Holiday, recently opened up about her disdain for the popular weight loss drug, Ozempic, shedding light on her personal battles with body image and eating disorders.
In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, the 48-year-old English actress expressed her lack of familiarity with Ozempic, stating, “I actually don’t know what Ozempic is. All I know is that it’s some pill that people are taking or something like that.”
Winslet’s candid remarks came as she indulged in a pastry during the interview, showcasing her disinterest in weight loss aids. Upon learning that Ozempic aids in weight loss, she exclaimed, “Oh, my God. This sounds terrible. Let’s eat some more things!”
Reflecting on her earlier years in the film industry, Winslet opened up about facing scrutiny from British tabloids regarding her weight during her breakout role in Titanic. She bravely shared her battle with an eating disorder at the time, emphasizing her commitment to not letting conversations about weight define her.
Moreover, Winslet highlighted the changing landscape of body positivity in Hollywood, expressing a desire to confront the bullying she endured post-Titanic release. She stated, “I would have said, ‘Don’t you dare treat me like this. I’m a young woman, my body is changing, I’m figuring it out, I’m deeply insecure, I’m terrified, don’t make this any harder than it already is’.”

While originally designed to address type 2 diabetes, Ozempic has seen a surge in popularity, particularly in the United States and the United Kingdom, as it is increasingly used off-label for combating obesity.
Winslet’s candid remarks serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of body positivity and self-acceptance in an industry often plagued by unrealistic beauty standards.
