A 26-year-old woman from Mexico had a scary health scare after suffering a painful cough for almost a month. At first she thought it was an ordinary sickness. But when her condition did not get better, she finally went to see a doctor. During medical tests doctors found something shocking. Her missing nose ring was stuck in her airway and she needed emergency Nose Ring Surgery.

The woman, Monica Barajas, later shared her experience on TikTok and explained she never noticed when the nose ring went missing. She didn’t think it could get into her breathing passage either. Things took a serious turn when doctors told her the metal ring was only 0.5 mm away from a major artery.

Doctors immediately arranged for emergency surgery to remove the object. The first procedure took much longer than expected and didn’t work. But in a second surgery the nose ring was finally removed safely. Doctors say the metal ring may have punctured her lungs or artery and that could have killed her.

Her story soon went viral on social media with many users expressing shock over how a tiny piece of jewelry almost cost someone their life. The incident also served as a reminder to take long-lasting cough symptoms seriously and visit a medical professional without delay.
