Potential suicide attack thwarted in Peshawar by Security forces

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in Peshawar has made a noteworthy breakthrough by announcing the arrest of two suspected suicide bombers from the Matni region who are allegedly linked with Daesh Khorasan (ISIS).

According to CTD Superintendent of Police (SP) Najam-ul-Hussain, the terrorists who were captured were actively plotting suicide strikes aimed at prominent political leaders.

The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman was the target of a suicide explosion plot, according to SP CTD, which involved the persons who were arrested. It was also revealed that the terrorists intended to use a suicide bomber to kill Aimal Wali, the president of the Awami National Party (ANP).

According to reports, the detained suspects had planned high-profile strikes in addition to raiding the JUI-F headquarters. The Paktia province of Afghanistan is where the terrorists received their training, according to investigations.

Three hand grenades, propaganda materials linked to Daesh, and suicide vests were found during the security operation. The firearms and explosives were effectively neutralized by the Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU).

Six months ago, SP CTD Najam-ul-Hussain revealed that the banned ISIS had been connected to the targeted deaths of people in the area who belonged to different ideologies.

In a related development, investigators are getting closer to figuring out who set off the explosive beside the Versak Road. According to SP CTD, the terrorist responsible for the bombing on Warsak Road would soon be apprehended.
