KARAK: A tragic accident left 12 people dead and 25 others injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Karak on Saturday.

The accident resulted in the collision of a passenger coach with a 22-wheeler trailer on the Indus Highway near Ambeeri Qila Chowk.

According to Deputy Commissioner Karak Shakeel Jan Marwat, the accident took place due to the trailer’s brake failure, which rammed into a passenger coach and several cars.

Rescue teams are actively working at the scene, recovering bodies and providing medical assistance to the injured, the official said.

The district authorities declared an emergency in all nearby hospitals and feared that the death toll could rise as some of the injured were in critical condition.
