URUMQI: Former Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal reached Urumqi (China) on the invitation of government of Shandong Province.
His visit is centered around his participation in the Eurasia Expo and Conference.
The Pakistani delegation, led by Ahsan Iqbal, was warmly received by the local leadership upon their arrival. Notably, senior officials were in attendance during this reception. Yuan Li Jinjing, recognizing Ahsan Iqbal’s valuable contributions to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), expressed deep gratitude on behalf of the Chinese people for his dedicated services to CPEC’s advancement.
During his address, Former Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal underscored the strong and enduring friendship between Pakistan and China. He emphasized that CPEC’s Phase 2 is poised to elevate bilateral relations to unprecedented levels, fostering even stronger connections between the two countries. Ahsan Iqbal also stressed the pivotal role of bolstering trade and educational links between Shandong and Gilgit-Baltistan to fortify regional ties.
Furthermore, Ahsan Iqbal highlighted the crucial aspect of fostering robust business-to-business relations between Pakistan and China. Such collaborations, he noted, will play a pivotal role in propelling the progress of CPEC even further. Ahsan Iqbal also pointed out that the successful completion of the ML-1 railway project will effectively bridge China and Pakistan, bringing wide-ranging benefits to the entire region through the CPEC framework.

In addition to his participation in the conference, Ahsan Iqbal attended a dinner hosted by Mr. Yuan Jianmin, the Counselor of Xinjiang People’s Government. Yuan Jianmin holds key positions as the Vice President of the China Association for the Promotion of International Investment and the Vice President of the Xinjiang People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. This dinner provided a valuable platform for networking and strengthening diplomatic ties.
