LAHORE: President PML-N Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar program.
Nawaz Sharif digitally inaugurated “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” by pressing a button at the request of Maryam Nawaz.
Later, Nawaz Sharif launched the digital lottery of the “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” project while the Chief Minister called up several lucky citizens and congratulated them on getting plots.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called up Rukhsana Bibi of Attock and Meromai of Mandi Yazman Tehsil of Bahawalpur to inform them of the availability of plots.
On this occasion, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif also congratulated the lucky citizens over the phone.
Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin, while giving a detailed briefing on the program, said that a total of 2,000 people have been provided residential plots under the first phase in 23 housing schemes in 19 districts across Punjab.
Plots were given to 730 citizens in Jhelum district, 388 in Kasur, 257 in Faisalabad, 219 in Lodhran, 130 in Okara, 55 in Layyah, 52 in Bhakkar, 33 in Sahiwal, 25 in Sargodha, 24 in Khushab, 20 in Bahawalnagar, 17 in Mandi Bahauddin, 15 in Rajanpur, and 11 in Attock.
Plots were also provided to citizens in other districts like Gujrat, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Vehari, and Chiniot.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that citizens who get 3 marla plots can get a loan of Rs 1.5 million to build a house, which will be paid in easy installments of Rs 14,000 per month for nine years.
She said that a foolproof procedure has been adopted to ensure transparency in the program. Applicants were screened and verified by NADRA and district field staff, after which 18,308 applicants were declared eligible for the draw.
More than 257,000 applications were received in the first phase of the program, while more than 1.8 million people across the province used the program app, and 970,000 people were registered.
So far, 118,000 people have been provided loans worth Rs. 145 billion under the project, which will enable homeless citizens to realize their dreams.
