Asif Zardari gets presidential immunity in Park Lane and Toshakhana reference

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari got presidential immunity in Park Lane and Toshakhana references.

The Accountability Court of Islamabad granted presidential immunity to Asif Zardari in reference to Park Lane and Tosha Khana vehicles.

Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana issued a written decision on President Asif Zardari’s requests for presidential immunity in NAB cases.

The written decision states that as long as Asif Ali Zardari is the President of the country, the proceedings of cases against him cannot proceed.

In the decision, it was said that an application was filed on behalf of Asif Ali Zardari under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution.

The judgment said that no objection was raised or opposed by the prosecution on these applications, no case can be instituted against the President of the State and no action can be continued under Article 248 (2) of the Constitution.

Therefore, the request of President Asif Ali Zardari to get presidential immunity from the cases is approved.
