Atlas 8 passengers dead, 20 other injured in fatal bus accident

LAHORE: A passenger bus turned over near Balkasar Interchange on the M-2 Motorway, killing at least eight and injuring more than 20 others, citing the motorway police.

As per details, the ill-fated bus was en route to Lahore from Rawalpindi when it suffered a fatal accident at Balkasar Interchange because of a tyre burst.

Rescue efforts were immediately initiated, and the dead and injured were shifted to the DHQ Hospital Chakwal.

Emergency response teams were kept present to control the situation and assist the affected passengers.

Earlier, in a fatal accident, 26 individuals lost their lives, as a passenger bus with wedding guests coming from Astore, GB, to Chakwal skidded off the Thalichi Bridge and fell into the river.

According to reports, 27 individuals were on the coaster, but only the bride, Malaika, survived.

The injured bride was rescued and admitted to the hospital, and rescue operations are still underway with the locals, rescue teams, and police personnel actively involved in the search and rescue mission.

Deputy Commissioner Astore, Muhammad Tariq, had confirmed the recovery of 14 victim bodies and had sent them to the Astore District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. “The wreckage of the accident vehicle was also pulled out from the river,” he said.
