ISLAMABAD: After being promoted to Field Marshal, a special ceremony will be held at Aiwan-i-Sadr to pin badges to General Syed Asim Munir on Thursday night, according to media reports.
The Supreme Commander of Armed Forces and President Asif Ali Zardari will pin the badges to the Field Marshal. The ceremony shall start on 08:00 pm.
The Ceremony will be attended by the prime minister, federal ministers, service chiefs, and other senior officials. Invitation cards have already been issued to the participants.
The ceremony was scheduled yesterday night, but it was postponed after the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal left for Quetta as a School bus was attacked by the terrorists in the Khuzdar district of Balochistan province, resulting in the death of five children and several other injuries.
Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir was given a special Guard of Honour today at Yadgar-e-Shuhada in General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, following his elevation to the highest rank.
According to the ISPR statement, CAOS Asim Munir laid a floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan.
“I am grateful to the President of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Cabinet for their trust. This honor is the trust of the nation, for which millions of Asims have sacrificed themselves,” he said.
