Case registered against illegal deer slaughter in Margalla hills

ISLAMABAD: A case has been registered at Kohsar police station in Islamabad over the slaughter of deer on the Margalla hills.

Bashir Abbasi and Zain Abbasi, residents of Gokina village, have been named in the case registered at Kohsar police station. Gokina village is located in the aforementioned Margalla hills.

The case has been registered on the complaint of Ayesha Shahzad, Assistant Director of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, and it has been taken as a stand that the accused illegally slaughtered a rare barking deer, and the remains of the slaughtered deer, skin, skull, and other things, should be recovered.

Sections A-4/12 and A-16 have been included in the case registered at Margalla police station. Under the above provisions, the accused can be fined Rs 1 million, imprisoned for one year, or punished with imprisonment.

Section 379 has also been included in the case against the accused, under which the accused can be sentenced to three years in prison separately for theft.

Federal Minister Mosaddiq Malik’s notice

Earlier, Federal Minister for Climate Change Mosaddiq Malik had taken notice of the killing of a deer in the Margalla Hills and ordered an investigation into the incident.

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Harmony Mosaddiq Malik took strict notice of the incident after a video of a deer being killed in the Margalla Hills surfaced on social media and strongly condemned the hunting and killing of wildlife in protected areas.

The Federal Minister has directed the relevant authorities to immediately investigate the incident and submit a report as soon as possible.

He stressed that such cruelty and violation of laws related to wildlife protection are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
