The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stepped up its efforts to defend its digital infrastructure and services against cyber threats by hiring a cybersecurity firm.

This decision, taken at a board meeting and summarized by the Member-Technical and Development Committee, is being executed in consonance with the rules of 2004 that have been laid down by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

This move is also intended to grow the skills and knowledge of the staff under the IT Directorate by training them on various aspects of cybersecurity and safeguarding digital assets.

The IT Wing has been directed to carry on with this hiring in consultation with the Directorate of Planning and Coordination at a time when fears are on the rise about cyber threats facing government institutions and their digital assets.

Their engagement is meant to restore the confidence of the CDA under the ambit of maintaining a robust cybersecurity framework and secure critical digital services.

Besides, the board has also given nod to the thinning-down of the IT Directorate, entitled “Information Technology Directorate”, with changes being made to their organization chart, and consequent retrieval of the affected vacant posts and redundancy accordingly, and transferring these posts for which the Chairman’s sanction will be required.

So, this process must be accomplished by the Directorate of Human Resource Development within one month. The existing titles of posts will be amended, and office orders will be issued accordingly.

The service of a project employee has been dreamed up within the IT Directorate, namely Deputy Director (Software GSTW), to help streamline operations and assist in improving the overall efficiency of the department.

CDA is taking these proactive measures to enhance its security efforts and protect its digital.
