LAHORE: The Punjab cabinet has scheduled a budget meeting for June 16 as the provincal government is ready to present its second budget.
The Punjab Chief Minister will preside over the budget session. According to information released on Thursday, the cabinet authorized the summary for convening the budget meeting, which will be held at 10 a.m. on June 16.
The Punjab cabinet will give final clearance to the proposed budget during the meeting. Following budget approval, Punjab Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman will deliver the budget to the Assembly.
However, the Punjab government planned to present the budget on June 13. However, due to difficulties in completing the finance law, the budget date was pushed forward to June 16.
Earlier, The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has finalised its budget for the fiscal year 2025–26 with an expected outlay of over Rs2.18 trillion and is expected to be presented in the provincial assembly on Friday, June 13.
The officials said that the total expenditure for the year has been estimated at Rs1,962 billion, leaving the province with a projected surplus of Rs157 billion.
