RAWALPINDI: Australian Army Chief Lt. Gen. Simon Stuart met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that during the meeting, the two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly the global and regional security environment.
COAS emphasized Pakistan’s appreciation for its relationship with Australia, noting the importance of strong bilateral ties in promoting the common goals of peace and stability.
Both sides reaffirmed their determination to further strengthen cooperation in defense and security, recognizing the importance of ongoing cooperation for regional and global peace.
Lt. Gen. Stuart appreciated Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and expressed determination to deepen bilateral defense and security cooperation between the two countries.
Earlier, on reaching GHQ, the Australian Army Chief laid floral wreaths on the martyrs’ memorial and paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan. He was warmly welcomed; armed forces of the Pakistan Army presented him with a guard of honour.
