Earthquake jolts several cities of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 jolted Islamabad and several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab on Saturday afternoon.

The tremors left the people abandoning their work and fleeing to come out of their homes and workplaces in panic as this marks the second earthquake in the week.

According to the initial details, the tremors were felt in several areas across Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Attock, Swabi, Kohat, Mianwali, and other cities in the country.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicentre was located near the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region, with a depth of 94 kilometres at latitude 36.21 N and longitude 71.34 E.

Initial reports mark no casualties or any damage from the earthquake so far, However, the rescue team are put on high alert in case of any reports causing damage.
