ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed the sighting of the Dhul-Hajj 1445 Hijri moon in Pakistan. This marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Dhul-Hajj and sets the date for Eid-ul-Adha, which will be celebrated nationwide on Monday, June 17.

As per the details, the announcement followed a meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, held in Karachi on Friday evening. Simultaneously, Zonal Ruet Committees convened in various cities, including Lahore and Peshawar, to observe the moon.

The sighting was first confirmed by the Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Following their verification, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad officially declared the moon sighting on behalf of the Central Committee.

With the sighting of the moon, the 1st of Dhul-Hajj will be observed on Saturday, June 8. This lunar observation places Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, on June 17.

Eid-ul-Adha, one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic calendar, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to Allah. Muslims across Pakistan will mark the occasion with special prayers, the ritual sacrifice of animals, and communal feasts.
