ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s energy crisis is not just limited to oil but has now spread to gas and furnace oil, and this issue might result in an increase in electricity prices across the nation, says Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Leghari.

According to statements released by the minister on X (formerly known as Twitter), the government is in talks with the provinces regarding the adjustment of market operating hours and the adoption of more energy-efficient steps.

It was mentioned by the minister that changes in fuel availability have a direct impact on the cost of power production, and there might be hikes in electricity tariffs in case the problem continues to exist.

As per the power minister, the federal government has done everything in its capacity to ensure that the citizens of Pakistan are not subjected to any additional burden due to the energy crisis.

The energy sector must be stabilized through consultation with the provinces to ensure that there are no upward adjustments in unit rates in the coming days.
