ISLAMABAD: SpaceX owner Elon Musk said last week that he is awaiting approval from the Pakistani government to allow Starlink internet access in the country.
“We are awaiting approval from the government,” Musk said in a tweet on X on January 4, 2025.

This comes just a week after US President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for Presidential Envoy for Special Missions, Richard Grenell had tweeted on X asking Musk to add Pakistan to the list of places where Starlink internet is needed.

Earlier this Monday, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja confirmed that Starlink was registered with the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

“[Following the approval] the space board authority is looking into various technical aspects and we have communicated [about this] to Starlink,” she told a private media channel.

It was also learned that the federal government has planned to hire a consultant to finalise regulations for Starlink’s internet services in Pakistan.
