Finance Minister leaves for US to attend IMF, World Bank meetings

ISLAMABAD: Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, fled to the United States (US) on Saturday to attend the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) spring season 2025 meetings from April 21 to April 26, according to media reports.

During his visit to the United States, the Federal Minister for Finance will undertake major discussions with the finance ministers of China, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

Mohammad Aurangzeb will also attend discussions with officials from the United States Department of State and the Treasury.

He will also attend discussions with the CEOs of global rating agencies and commercial and investment banks. The Finance Minister will attend the 13th ministerial-level meeting on climate change.

Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb will address the attendees of a round-table meeting titled “Economic picture of Pakistan, latest progress on economic and revenue reforms and relations with IMF”.

The Finance Minister will speak at a session hosted by the Centre for Global Development.

During his packed agenda, he will meet with the Gates Foundation’s President of Global Policies and Legal Section, Madam Gargee Ghosh.

Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb will meet with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.

Mohammad Aurangzeb will also visit prominent US research institutions and speak at a session titled “Year 2025 and Pakistan’s Economic Challenges.”

During his visit to the United States, Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb will also meet in-depth with representatives from American and foreign media.
