LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation Department has decided to hike the base prices of desirable registration numbers dramatically, City42 reported on Wednesday, quoting official sources.
The base price of 64 desirable numbers will be hiked tenfold, according to the report. The sought-after “1” and “786” registration numbers in the next e-auction will now begin at Rs. 100,000, as opposed to the previous Rs. 10,000.
In the same vein, the minimum price of double-digit numbers will go up from Rs5,000 to Rs50,000, whereas triple-digit numbers will climb from Rs2,500 to Rs. 25,000. Officials also revealed that in the case of the “999” series, consumers would have to pay an extra Rs. 10,000.
Once the new system is implemented, neat numbers will be handed out during vehicle registration and transfer. In the new process, as mentioned above, three car series and one motorbike series will be printed daily.
A summary has already been submitted to the Punjab government by the Director General of Excise. As soon as the summary is approved, the new prices shall take effect immediately.
