ISLAMABAD: Amid rising tensions in the region, PTI founder Imran Khan has decided to postpone his protest movement for two weeks, according to party leader Noreen Khanum.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail after meeting Khan, Noreen said the decision was taken in view of the global situation. “We are now waiting for official statements from the prime minister, president and field marshal regarding Pakistan’s position,” she added.

Despite not meeting anyone for a week, Imran Khan was fully aware of the international situation. He stressed that this global tension would affect Pakistan and urged the nation to remain united at this time.

According to Noreen, Khan criticized the recent budget, calling it a budget for the elite and saying that the poor were facing severe hardships. He said the salaried class was bearing the entire burden of taxes and this would further increase poverty in the country.

He further said that in the last three years, 3.3 million educated Pakistanis have left the country, each taking with them about $30,000, highlighting a significant outflow of foreign exchange. He added that the KP budget will be approved only after consultation.

Khan has said that he will meet Ali Amin, Taimur Jhagra, Muzammil Aslam and Shibli Faraz before giving the green light to the KP budget.

Meanwhile, Uzma Khan also spoke to the media and said that the PTI founder has appealed to all Pakistanis to unite. She said that Ali Amin Gandapur did not distance himself from the protest, the one who protested globally for Imran Khan has our support. Imran Khan’s stance on Israel is known to all.

She criticized top leaders like Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for remaining silent during the previous Pak-India tensions. “Now we expect from those who came to power with only 17 seats – this is their responsibility,” he said, adding that Khan is very concerned about the situation in Gaza.
