RAWALPINDI: Founder PTI and former Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday said that he is ready for an inquiry into the 2014 sit-in.

While talking to the media in Adiala Jail, he said, “I am ready for a judicial probe into the 2014 sit-in. I will be happy to appear before an inquiry committee. All allegations against me related to the 2014 sit-in are false.”

In an informal conversation with journalists during a cipher case hearing, Imran Khan claimed that the 2013 election was an election of Returning Officers (ROs).

During interaction with the media, Imran Khan backed DG ISPR Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry’s call to hold the judicial inquiry into the 2014 sit-in staged by the PTI against the alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.

Furthermore, the PTI founder distanced his party from the May 9 incidents, saying that the party never resorted to violence in its history of 27 years. “I only came to know about the May 9 riots when I was presented before then-chief justice Umar Ata Bandial in the Supreme Court,” he added.

Talking about DG ISPR’s press conference, the imprisoned former Prime Minister has refused to apologize for the May 9 riots a day after the military ruled out holding dialogue with those involved in the May 9 mayhem.

“Why should I tender an apology, it should be sought from me,” he said.

Moreover, Founder PTI said that half of my family is in the army and half in the bureaucracy, the army is ours and we have no problem with the army. “For the sake of God, don’t drag the army into politics,” he added.

Imran Khan revealed that the people of Muslim League-N had told us privately that until Qazi Faiz Isa becomes the Chief Justice, there will be no elections and neither Nawaz Sharif will return.
