Individuals involved in Qazi Faez Isa’s car ambush to be deported, claims Mazhar Abbas

ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist Mazhar Abbas claimed that it has been decided to deport individuals who were involved in the attack on the former chief justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa’s car in London last week.

During the talk show on a private media channel, political analyst Abbas said “Over 26 people, including 10 to 12 females, who heckled ex-CJP Isa’s vehicle will be deported from London back to Pakistan.”

In another development, the local publication Dawn, citing the City of London Police spokesperson, reported that no formal complaint has been registered with the local police regarding the incident.

London police spokesperson said, “We are aware of an incident which occurred on Middle Temple that involved protesters surrounding a vehicle, but, at this time, there have been no official allegations made to the police.”

The incident occurred on the evening of October 29 when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protesters chased and attacked the vehicle belonging to the Pakistan High Commission, in which Qazi Faez Isa was leaving the Middle Temple venue.

Earlier that day, the PTI’s UK chapter called for a protest outside the Middle Temple which ended peacefully. However, around 10 supporters stayed on, and later tried to ambush the car — having the Pakistan High Commission diplomatic number plate — and attempted to open the doors.

PTI demonstrators outside London’s Middle Temple tried to stop it and shouted slogans, “Go Qazi, Go Qazi”.

In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said, it is investigating the matter regarding the ambush on former chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa’s vehicle by protesters in the United Kingdom.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemning the attack, instructed the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to block the ID card of those involved. “We cannot remain silent on this incident and no one will be permitted to engage in such attacks,” Naqvi stated.
