After leaving Pakistan, President Raisi reached Sri Lanka on the next leg of his South Asia tour at a special invitation of his counterpart President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sri Lankan media reported.

The President is scheduled for a one-day official visit to join a public event commemorating the launch of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project (UOMDP).

Earlier on Tuesday, during his second day of the visit, the Iranian President visited Lahore and Karachi where he met the provincial government officials.

Upon his arrival in Karachi later in the day, he paid a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid and paid rich tribute to the father of the nation. The University of Karachi bestowed an honorary doctorate on Raisi.

Before arriving in Karachi, President Raisi completed his Lahore trip where he visited Mazar-i-Iqbal and met with the Punjab’s governor and chief minister.

Raisi arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a three-day official trip along with his wife, senior ministers, and a high-level delegation. His visit is the first of its kind by any head of state after the February 8 general elections.
